Sarah MacLaurin was a successful lawyer at a prestigious firm. Well known for being impeccably dressed, well groomed, and sharp as a tack, it disturbed her coworkers when she suddenly became withdrawn, sullen, and sloppy.
One night, to avoid her coworkers who gathered at a local watering hole, she ventured inside a different bar. And there she encountered one of the partners of the law firm, Bill Grayson.

Bill soon learned there was a serious reason behind her unusual behavior and took it upon himself to help her through this difficult time.

"Sarah's Rain" is a romance, absolutely. But it's also a story of coping, of learning to lean on someone else, and of realizing that it isn't the body that makes a person who she (or he) is... it's the soul.

Sarah Rain edition by Ava Vanyo Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

On the positive side, this story was rather touching and the characters were likable. There were no graphic love scenes (for those who prefer to avoid them), the MCs were moral (save Grayson's careless one-night-stands) and the romance was nice.

On the negative side, the writing was mediocre and somewhat amateurish, and the plot was fairly simple and predictable. There was some conflict, but most everything got tied up neat and tidy.

RE writing:
There was the interesting line: "He couldn't help it; he grinned beside himself." (I think the author meant 'in spite of himself.')

Repetitive descriptions (such as 'he smiled wolfishly') abounded, and characters did things like 'smiling' dialogue. (i.e. "I love it," she smiled.) You can't 'smile' words. You can 'say' them, 'yell' them, 'whisper' them and 'mutter' them, but you can't 'smile' them. (And I dare you to try.) The proper way is: She smiled. "I love it." -or- "I love it," she said with a smile.

**Plot spoiler alert**

While a diagnosis of cancer and the removal of reproductive organs (or breasts) is nothing to be taken lightly, the heroine's dramatic reactions and persistence in doubting the hero's feelings for her got to be a little much. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so irritating if she'd kept her feelings to herself and only expressed them fully later in the book, leaving the hero to wonder a little longer about her reluctance.

On the accuracy of the medical information, I don't see how an abnormal pap smear would alert one to un-metastasized ovarian cancer. Other aspects of a gynecological exam might, but not the Pap part of it. Pap smears detect cervical cancer and related conditions. The author should have done her homework if she was going to write about the specifics. A simple Google search would have told her all she needed to know.

**Spoiler alert over**

BOTTOM LINE - If you're looking for a fast, easy read with some drama, some romance and a happy ending, then you'd probably enjoy this book. If you're looking for seriously good writing, feel-it-all-the-way-to-your-toes romance and a complex, riveting plot, then look elsewhere.

Sarah Rain edition by Ava Vanyo Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

Ava's powerful messages of love, support, and hope resound though her moving first novel. The romance that develops between Sarah and Bill is moving and tender. This novel is a testament to love and hope. I recommend this novel to any woman but especially any woman suffering with cancer. An emotionally uplifting read!
If your into books that you will never give another thought to, then this is the book for you. Not thought provoking in the least.
Sarah MacLaurin was a successful lawyer at the most prestigious law firm in Jacksonville. Well known at the office for being impeccably dressed, well groomed, and sharp as a tack, it was disturbing to her coworkers when she suddenly became withdrawn, sullen, and sloppy. No one could reach her. Not even her best friend and fellow lawyer, Larry Fulsom.

One Friday night in August, to avoid her co-workers who gathered at a local watering hole, she ventured inside a different bar. And there she encountered one of the partners of the law firm, Bill Grayson.

Concerned about her, Bill invited her to join him for dinner. He soon learned there was a serious reason behind her unusual behavior and took it upon himself to help her through this difficult time. Believing her to be romantically involved with Larry, he convinced himself that he was merely doing a friend a favor. Until...

"Sarah says they're not in love. But I'd have sworn that Larry loved her." Bill's face took on a pained expression.

Senior partner Tom Malsam knew that look. 'Well I'll be; he's in love with her!'

But years ago, Bill vowed never to love again. Will his painful past hinder his growing love for Sarah?
